Simona Sciacca

Sicilian singer born in 1989. Since she was a child, she has shown particular attitudes and sympathy for everything that belongs to the world of music. Her predisposition for singing leads her to range between different musical genres: from pop music to sacred song, from folk music to Jazz. She attended the Jazz Singing course at the Vincenzo Bellini Music Institute in Catania and graduated with full marks in December 2013.   Since the beginning, Simona has collaborated in the creation of albums by various artists such as Paolo Buonvino, Mannarino, Raphael Gualazzi, Tony Canto, La Compagnia d’Encelado Superbo, Artù, Sicily Folk Orchestra, Mario Incudine, Taleh, Compagnia la Giostra. In 2009 she lent her voice to the Roman singer-songwriter Alessandro Mannarino recording the song “La strega e il diamante” in the album Il bar della rabbia, and since then she has continued to collaborate with Mannarino in the tours around Italy and in the recording of his albums. In July 2020 she participated in Dior’s fashion show in Lecce, as conductor of the singers of the Orchestra Popolare della Notte della Taranta, and the following August she participated in the concert of the Notte della Taranta in Melpignano, broadcasted on Rai2 channel, together with the conductor Paolo Buonvino.   Since 2019 she is one of the singers of the Sicily Folk Orchestra, whose intentions are rediscovering, proposing, and promoting Sicilian musical songs and traditions.   The singer’s solo project starts from Sicily and offers musical sounds that bring the listener into a wider sound universe, thanks to research and contamination with Portuguese and South American folk music.
